Human Rights Day event with STWR at Leicester University

To celebrate Human Rights Day, the Centre of European Law and Internationalisation (CELI) is hosting an event in conjunction with the University of Leicester Pro-Bono Society. 

The campaign group Share The World's Resources (STWR) will be presenting their vision to implement Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – the right to an adequate standard of living, including adequate food, housing, health care and social security for all – in order to address systemic injustices and prevent unnecessary human suffering.  

In this talk and Q&A, Victoria Gater and Adam Parsons will explain how meeting universal basic needs has profound implications for the future direction of international relations and global development. They will also suggest that immense public support for Article 25 is urgently needed if we are to reorder global priorities and empower the United Nations to truly represent ‘we the people’ of the world. 

Victoria Gater is a musician based in Somerset who, for 20 years, has also been involved in many campaigns for environmental and social justice. She has worked with STWR for the past 7 years, helping to raise awareness for the global campaign for Article 25.

Adam Parsons is the editor at Share The World's Resources, a civil society organisation with Consultative Status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Previously a newspaper journalist, Adam writes and talks regularly on global justice issues and has participated in many civil society forums in the UK and overseas.
